Skid Row Photography Club – Sacred Children’s Free Photo Shot 2012

This pass Saturday Aug. 4th Skid Row Photography Club (SRPC) invited families of skid row to attend our ‘Sacred Children Free Photo Shot for the second year inside San Julian Park in the heart of Skid Row. It was a magnificent day for an outside shoot to say the least. Several lady members of SRPC took up the rains and shoot most of these great family images- Carmen Vega & Beloved Sista Mary and we could not have done better the children simply adored them both. Several images were taken of children and or family depending on what the mom thought would be a good shot then each mom picked out the fame style they wanted for one to two pictures; it was astonishing how joyful they all became during this gathering. After the images were captured we then used the papermate portable printer to print out high quality images that were then framed right there on the spot.

We were joined by several other organizations and people of interest such as Sherita Herring who is currently running for Los Angeles City Counsel set in the 9th District and Patti Collins wife of Bootsy with her “Bootsy Girls” t-shirts

Homeless No More - Several SRPC Members Graduate Back Into Society.                                                                                                          It was with great honor that I watched five of our club members graduate from the Wiengart Center in particular The Women’s Renaissance Program & Project Pay Check. here is skid row. Each of the members joined the club last year were technically homeless or in what is know as transitional housing, most all of them have reentered the job market with jobs and housing in some cases automobiles this is about ten members now in the past two years who have at least found housing and hope for a better tomorrow; Let God Be Magnified!
